JUNIOR TENNIS CLASSES

Blue ball is the launchpad for young tennis players between the ages of 3 and 5. Blue ball focuses on fundamental and perceptual motor skills by incorporating fun tennis related games which get our youngest students familiar with being on a tennis court. Depending on their height, KT academy would recommend a racquet between 19 and 21 inches for a blue ball player.

Red Ball Hot Shots is a great introduction to tennis, teaching all the fundamentals of tennis in a fun environment. Red Ball is a stepping stone for young tennis players as they learn the basics of tennis while improving their motor skills. Classes take place on reduced court sizes with lower bouncing balls to make kids have experience more success on the tennis court.

Orange Ball is where coaches begin to look at every stroke so students begin to learn good tennis technique. Each Orange ball lesson combines coaching and games to challenge the players while making sure lessons are still as fun and exciting to be a part of. In Orange ball players are introduced to concepts such as consistency, targets and spin. Players play on a reduced 3/4 court.

Green ball lessons use a 75% compression green ball on a full sized court. In green ball lessons, the fundamentals of tennis strokes are further developed focusing more heavily on concepts such as topspin and targets. At Mooloolaba Tennis Club we recommend racquets between 25 and 27 inches in length which can be purchased from our pro-shop!

The Yellow Tennis Coaching Program involves stroke, tactical, psychical and mental development through group tennis lessons and both singles and doubles match play. The program prepares children for tennis competitions, school tennis, tennis tournaments and performance pathway training in a fun environment.
